Rather scarce with no other examples on the market. Bangs, perhaps "the" American Methodist historian of the era, explores the critical moment in Methodism and calls for a revival of the ancient, holy, and deeply experimental Methodism of the Great Awakening. He also addresses the "Abolition Excitement" directly. This issue would end up splitting the Methodist church right down the middle just a few years later.

Bangs, Nathan. The Present State and Responsibilities of the Methodist Episcopal Church. With an Appendix of Ecclesiastical Statistics. New York. Lane & Scott. 1850. 326pp

Very good, crisp tidy example of a rare work. Bright gold gilt on spine. A bit dulled on cloth and some minor to moderate foxing and toning. Clean and crisp.
