Includes a loose signature care for J. W. Moulton, likely J. W. Moulton, the Salem, Massachusetts' based photographer remembered for his Civil War portraits, including those of the 64th Colored Infantry, etc. Also the signatures of Sarah C. Webster and C. F. Jordon.

Original full crushed morocco with decorative gold embossing to spine and both boards; the decorations on the spine largely obscured, boards attractive. The front hinge has a 3 inch split to the base. Decorative endpapers retained, text and illustrations throughout are generally clean and bright.
