A rather rare and timely work. No copies on the market at the time of cataloguing. Scarlett had been an atheist / deist who wrestled with God over human suffering, intellectual questions, etc., but then had a miraculous encounter with the resurrected Christ.

A deeply detailed account of the life and conversion of Scarlett, who become a prominent Methodist divine. He wrestled deeply with intellectual and philosophical questions, doubt, atheism, etc.

Good, solid example of a scarce title. Original publisher's cloth, dulled on spine with minor remainder of a label. 19th century "Pleasant Street Methodist Episcopal Sabbath School Library" on the pastedown. Generally solid and clean; some handling and minor stain to top edge of a section of text.
