1856 GREAT AWAKENING. Sermons by Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen [1691-1747]
Very rare original imprint of the mid-19th century translation of the sermons of the Dutch-American "forerunner of the Great Awakening," Theodore Frelinghuysen [1691-1747]. We haven't had a copy of the original in for many years.
Frelinghuysen, Theodorus Jacobus. Sermons by Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen, First Minister of the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church in Somerset County, New-Jersey. Translated From the Dutch. And Prefaced by A Sketch of the Author's Life, by Rev. William Demarest. With an Introduction by the Rev. Thomas De Witt, D.D. New-York. Board of Publication. 1856. 422pp.
A good + copy, bound in cloth, rubbed, dulled on the spine, and light chips at the head. Text is generally solid, with one gathering shaken and slightly forward. Pages are generally bright, with light foxing, and the blank ffep has been removed.
