An exceptionally rare early American biography of Charles H. Spurgeon. At the time, Spurgeon was a lightning rod. Many despised him, but his popularity continued to grow. Keeping in mind that at the time of this publication, he was just 24 years old . . . yet the spine boldly reads, "Spurgeon. The Greatest Preacher in the World," it's no wonder that some felt a bit resistant.

The present biography is the first edition of a separate biography of Spurgeon published in America, housed in the same binding with Magoon's biography and selected sermons, which were the first issue of Spurgeon's sermons in America.

I don't recall ever handling this volume before. Scarce in the trade.
