Not pristine, but a very rare set of two historical sermons, or discourses, delivered by Gardiner Spring, pastor of the Brick Presbyterian Church in New York. He had long been its pastor, and it had seen numerous seasons of revival, ranging from the Second Great Awakening through to the Finney-Nettleton Revivals, and into the then-happening Prayer Revival begun at Fulton Street, also in New York.

Spring, a natural conservative, invited Finney to the Brick Church. It didn't go well. Finney's claims of the "prayer of faith's" ability to garner automatic and specific results didn't settle well with an old revivalist, but of the Calvinist school. Spring was more Edwards and Nettleton than Wesley.

Fascinating discourses.
