1859 Edward Irving. The Coming of Messiah in Glory and Majesty. Groundbreaking Premillennial Work
Irving, Edward. Rev. Edward Irving's Preliminary Discourse to the Works of Ben Ezra; Entitled The Coming of Messiah in Glory and Majesty. To which is added, An Ordination Charge Delivered by Mr. Irving in 1827. London. Bosworth & Harrison. 1859. 203pp.
A fantastically important item for two reasons:
First, Irving's reading of the works of Ben Ezra is often considered the beginning of modern premillennialism. He would then influence a premillennial school in the dissenting churches and among the Plymouth Brethren. From there it influenced Adventist movements, American Fundamentalists, the Pentecostal movement, etc. But it all started here. Very, very scarce on the market with no copies available at any price and often commanding massive sums.
Second, this copy was loaned to Mrs. Drysdale, many of whom were influential in the early Irvingite movement.
Good with only minor wear, just through at extremities.
