A really wonderful item. This is an original full folio, complete imprint of the very first issue, Volume I, Number I of The Sunday School Times.

Its editor, and later Chaplain during the Civil War, was H. Clay Trumbull. He himself was deeply impacted by the prayer revivals at Fulton Street, Philadelphia, Boston, etc., and sensed a deep call to see a generation of children experience God's grace . . . and thus the revival-bent Sunday School Times was born.

Trumbull, H. Clay. The Sunday-School Times. Volume I. Number 1. Saturday, January 1, 1859. 4pp.

Includes articles: Firemen's Prayer Meetings [as an extension of the Prayer Revival]; Young Men's Christian Associations [with history in London]; What Revival Teaches [on the present revival]; The Teacher's Crown; Introductory [Prospectus] of The Sunday-School Times; The Mortara Case involving the Jewish Minister Isaac Lesser; The Little Coal-Picker; Advertisement for Talbot W. Chambers' book on the Noon Prayer Meetings in Fulton Street; The Best Robe by Richard Newton; A Section of New Publications [W. E. Boardman on The Higher Life, Talbot Chambers on the Noon Prayer Meetings, The Harvest and the Reapers [on revival and evangelism] by Harvey Newcomb, etc;
