Quite scarce. The Universalist Quarterly is an excellent historic resource as a result of the rather extensive length of its original content, articles often extending to 10 or 20 pages.

The present volume contains three lengthy, important items related to the earliest days of the Civil War. One is on the beginning of the war and explores its causes, etc., another is on the relationship of Christians to the military and war in light of a cause like slavery; and a final article, theological in nature, explores the foundational importance of viewing all of humanity as a single "race," descended from a single father . . . the implications for slavery, the de-humanization of African slaves, etc. are evident.

Anonymous. The Universalist Quarterly and General Review. Volume XVIII. Boston. Published by A. Tompkins. 1861. 436pp.

A good + copy, bound in half leather, generally solid, with generally bright pages and light foxing.
