A very rare letter by John Nelson Darby [1800-1882]. I don't actually recall ever having handled one before.

Darby is, of course, considered to be the father of Dispensationalism and Pre-tribulational Rapture theology, etc., and was an early leader among the Plymouth Brethren. His theology is, in large part, what was popularized in America and thus became the dominant eschatology through the Scofield Reference Bible.

Content is rather business-ish, but apparently written in 1862 as he was leaving for the United States [which he mentions]. He is unable to make various meetings. It is written affectionately, though it is unclear to whom. Likely a prominent person in the the Plymouth Brethren sphere.

Apparently unpublished. Neatly written, but challenging to read.

A bit awkwardly mounted.
