1863 JOHN CALVIN. Calvin: His Life, His Labours, and His Writings by Bungener. Nice Binding & Provenance.
Not pristine, but a sound and attractive example of Bungener's rather rare biography of Calvin. And this example inscribed as a prize copy by Rev. Thomas Witherow [18224-1890], the Irish Presbyterian divine, historian, and academic. It is inscribed to Thomas A. Thompson by Witherow while he was Professor of Church History and Pastoral Theology at Magee College in Londonderry. He was also voted Moderator of the General Assembly of Irish Presbyterians, etc.
Bungener, Felix. Calvin: His Life, His Labours, and His Writings. Edinburgh. T. & T. Clark. 1863. 349pp.
Original calf, very attractive binding, but lacking contrasting spine title label, through at corners, some staining. Textually similar, very clean and crisp generally, but a bit rippled and some minor foxing. Clearly this saw some dampness at some point, but has recovered quite nicely.
