Absolutely beautiful set, previously the property of Rev. H. D. C. Nunn, Vicar of Ripon in England and finely bound by superb 19th century bindery, Wiseman of Cambridge.
Spurgeon calls Conybeare and Howson's work, far superior to any other work on the subject. It stands like some o'ertopping Alp, a marvel among Scriptural biographies.
Conybeare, W. J. and J. S. Howson. The Life and Epistles of St. Paul. In Two Volumes. London. Longman, Green, Longman, Roberts, & Green. 1865. 551 + 692pp.
Very attractive, heavy 8vo volumes in full calf with beveled boards, raised spines, contrasting title and volume panels, blind tooled dentils, marbled boards, and likely tooled with Nunn's family crest on boards. Textually very solid, crisp and clean with fine engravings and folding maps.
