A very scarce work by noted abolitionist, Justus Keefer. Keefer was author of a very popular work on slavery, Slavery. Its Sin, Moral Effects, and Certain Death, in 1864. That work, prophesying slavery's impending death as the outcome of the Civil War, also contained a small addendum on God's self-disclosure in the created world. The present work, published the following year, is an expansion of that work, and includes a fascinating section on God's work in and through the Civil War.

We trace not a single copy at public sale. Worldcat shows not a single example held institutionally. Very finely illustrated with allegorical woodcuts which appear original and organic to this volume, including a post-Civil War vision of Reconstruction, etc. Two full chapters are noted as (From the Millennial Harbinger) and were first published anonymously [though by Keefer it seems] in those pages [1846].

". . . the grand central thought in all correct education is to lead the youthful mind to see God in everything. . ."
