Scarce and fascinating account of 16 year old Mary Ann Smith. Raised a Catholic, she was converted to Methodism it seems at a camp-meeting, but was taken against her will and held in a Convent where she was put to forced labor 12 hours a day and continually threatened with perdition unless she come back to the Catholic Church.

The case was at last brought to trial at the insistence of the Methodist church. Funds were raised for her defense at Camp Meetings, etc., A significant part of the trial had to do with the independent legal rights of minors, etc., She was forcibly released.
