A very scarce imprint of pro-slavery, Southern Presbyterian divine's speech detailing the [pretended] theological prohibitions and practical impossibility of any Reconstruction era ecclesiology which would suggestion that a white parishioner ever be "under" the preaching or ecclesial authority of a negro preacher, especially given the "natural inabilities" of negroes for learning, etc., Racial ecclesial integration must be avoided at all costs because, as his simple summary statement reads, "It is confusion."
Dabney, Robert L. Ecclesiastical Relation of Negroes. Speech of Rev. Robert L. Dabney, in the Synod of Virginia, Nov. 9, 1867; Against the Ecclesiastical Equality of Negro Preachers in Our Church, and Their Right to Rule Over White Christians. Richmond.
