An absolutely superbly bound Bagster Polyglot in full morocco, elaborately tooled to spine and boards, raised bands, the whole clad in brass, marbled endpapers, and the foreges at all three edges beautifully gilt and gauffered.
This example presumably the copy of Rev. A. F. Davies, an Anglican divine active in the 1870's and 1880's.
The English Version of the Polyglot Bible ; Containing the Old and New Testaments: With a Copious and Original Selection of References to Parallel and Illustrative Passages Exhibited in a Manner Hitherto Unattempted, etc. London. Samuel Bagster & Sons. Nd. c.1870.
Very good condition with only the slightest rubbing, light abrasions to brass, and some light pitting. Very solid, crisp and clean. Measures just 4.25 x 6.5 inches; perfect for personal use and just a charming example of late 19th century craftsmanship.
