1874 ROBERT S CANDLISH. Three Weeks in the Highlands. Adventism, Scottish Revival, Disruption.
A rather scarce work drawn from time with the famed Robert S. Candlish [1806-1873]. He was peers with Thomas Chalmers, to whom he was second only in influence in the Scottish Free Church, and influenced the young leaders Robert Murray M'Cheyne and Horatius and Andrew Bonar. He was connected with the Mission of Enquiry to the Jews and the Premillennial Advent preaching of Edward Irving, etc.,
He was later an influential Scottish commentator who was highly regarded by C. H. Spurgeon and whose works are today still in print by Banner of Truth Trust.
Fascinating first-hand accounts of the rise of the Scottish Free Church, the teachings related to the Second Advent in Scotland during the 1830's, etc., I don't recall handling this work before.
