A wonderful original pair of Staffordshire D. L. Moody and Ira D. Sankey sculptures dating from the period of either the 1874 or 1881 revivals in England. Each is shown flanked by a pedestal and having their Bible and Hymn Books respectively.
These are the highly desirable larger versions and are, as usual, rather naively painted, each piece Staffordshire produced being finished by hand. They measure an imposing near 19 inches each and are in a good, solid state of preservation with craquelure as expected, some minor firing cracks, and minor surface paint losses.
