1874 HOLY BIBLE. Finely Presented Bradbury Agnew King James Bible in 11 Fine Bindings!
The Holy Bible [King James Version]. London. Bradbury Agnew & Co. Nd. c.1874.
One of the finest production bindings issued during the 19th, century, Agnew produced boxed sets of Shakespeare [which sell for thousands of dollars] and of Holy Scripture. There were two editions of the Scripture imprint. One was in very attractive Victorian cloth and a cloth box. The second, present here, was bound in 11 fine morocco bindings with real gold foredges, and housed in a lovely faux morocco flip lip box with satin lining and brass closure box.
The box has some wear and tear as shown, but very solid and still very attractive. The books themselves have the slightest rubbing to spines and a few minor nicks. Other than that they would be grade "fine." An exceptionally preserved set.
The entire set together measures 4.5 x 6.5 x 11 inches. Really lovely.
