A rare and unusually full  2pp ALS entirely in the hand of Susannah Spurgeon in her role has head of Mrs. Spurgeon's Book Fund, founded to distribute her husband, Charles Haddon Spurgeon's writings to rural and poor pastors across the United Kingdom at no cost. It was a formidable effort, and the need, as reflected in the letter, was always more than the supply.

An unusual glimpse into her heart for the pastors she served and cared for.

My Dear Sir

A lady in Scotland wrote to me to say she had several vols of Mr. Spurgeon's Sermons which she would like to give away, and asking for any names of persons to whom they might be acceptable. Among others I gave her yours. And I dare say you have ere this received some books from her.

To-day I have a letter from her enclosing £1 for your acceptance, with the words "Tell him it comes for your sake form one who wishes him God-speed and trusts he will yet be wise to win souls."

It makes me very happy to be the means of lending you even this little help, for I was greatly grieved to refuse your request for books. The order enclosed is drawn by me in your favour.

Very truly Yours
Susie Spurgeon"
