A very fine original manuscript record of trips taken by W. W. and E. M. Ames at various years of the Annual Meetings of the New York Press Association, Beginning in 1885. Also a Record of Various Experiences of E [Ella]. M. Ames.
Also includes personal devotional content, accounts of miracles in Ella's life, and accounts of the annual meeting of the Seventh Day Baptists, etc,.
W. W. Ames was editor of the De Ruyter Gleaner, with his wife often contributing articles. They were also both active in the Seventh Day Baptist church

An account of the New York State Press Association at Niagara Falls, 1885, including their stay at the International Hotel, taking carriages to the Falls, Prospect Point, vivid description of the Fall themselves, a lecture for the Society by General Smith Atkins of Freeport, Illinois, taking the Steamer Chicora to Toronto, meeting the sister former President, Chester Arthur at the meetings, evening had a concert at the hotel put on by the "colored waiters, [it was on an average with the singing of colored people generally, very fine], an elaborate dinner put on by Mr. Drexel of New York with "salads, wines and various french dishes which nobody liked served for nearly two hours," with toasts by Senator Warner Miller, a concert by a Mexican Band, etc., she proceeded to Ypsilanti [to visit her father, before returning home].
Account of the New York State Press Association at Washington, 1886, including leaving fro De Ruyter to Elmira, taking a walk past Thomas Kennicott Beecher's church, stopping at Williamsport and views of the Susquehannah, view of the Capitol dome at Harrisburg, and finally Baltimore to Washington. Includes a vivid description of arriving in Washington with the magnificent architectural proportions, the crowds of hackmen, car drivers, etc., Stayed at the Willard, elaborate description of the dinners [green peas, strawberries and cold chicken, etc.], the business meeting of the Association [at the Hotel], visiting the Senate chamber, listening to a speech on the "Chinese question," account of the happenings in the House of Representatives, the Government greenhouses, Washington monument, account of meeting and shaking hands with Grover Cleveland, etc.,
There is then a similar account for the 1888 N Y S P A meeting at Lake George, etc.,
There are also non-business travels to the Catskills, etc.
Also some tipped in clippings related to the 52 Annual State Press Association and various articles written by Mrs. E. M. Ames and clipped for the album [1901]. Also includes a series of published accounts of the Seventh Day Baptist Conference [1902] at Ashaway, Rhode Island [written by Ames], a published article on the departure of Pastor L. A. Wing from DeRuyter [by Ames], an article on the Armenians by Ames, etc.,
Then, there is another lengthy MSs section related to the Annual Seventh Day Baptist Convention at Milton, Wisconsin with a detailed account of the Convention itself, in manuscript. There are extracts from "The Rams Horn" [a Seventh Day Baptist periodical].
Then there is a significant amount related to her personal faith. A page inscribed "The Fundamentals of My Faith" by E. M. Ames, a manuscript account of God's miraculous preservation of her during a night time horse riding accident by a cliff, and several other lengthy accounts of miraculous interpositions of God in her personal life, her personal devotion, etc.,
A good copy, bound in quarter leather, with spine chipped and worn as shown. Text is lightly shaken, with generally bright pages.
