An attractive 1886 1.p ALS by Ralph Wardlaw Thompson as Foreign Secretary of the London Missionary Society.
A lovely little piece of London Missionary Society ephemera on very attractive LMS letterhead and entirely in the hand of their Foreign Secretary, Ralph Wardlaw Thompson. It is addressed to Mrs. Lessel, probably daughter or very aged wife of the Lessel’s who were serving in India as early as the 1830’s.
By the content, it appears to be the aged Mrs. Lessel as Thompson agrees to write Lady Waldegrave, presumably for financial support. He concludes, “As for me, I shall be very happy to serve you at any time in any way in my power. I wish I could do more for those who have such a relation to the Society as you have had for many years.”
