A very tidy and rare example of one of the earliest publications of the Salvation Army in America. U.S. Commissioner George Scott Railton began printing Salvation News in 1880, but the works from the American S.A. press were few and far between.

This particular little work provides unique insight into the kinds of challenges faced by the movement in America. It answers questions about whether all the uniforms and pageantry aren't extra-biblical, about accusations of being "excitable," about their views on holiness and entire sanctification, the precise nature of the "General" role, etc., There seem to have been sensitivities about the Salvation Army perhaps being either popish [with their garb and one man leader] or enthusiasts and extremists.

Moore, General Thomas E. All about the Salvation Army. 1886. Brooklyn, New York. The Salvation Army Headquarters. 1886. 28pp.

Very rare in original yellow wraps, complete, some handling and a few corners turned. Good + overall.
