Very good volume of revivalist sermons by A. P. Graves. Having expereinced a tremendous season of revival as an evangelist during the 1870's and 1880's after a "higher life" experience, he serves as an example of ministerial humility. By the time the Azusa Street Revival rolled around, he was the grand old man of revival for many and his voice influenced others widely. 

When pastor Joseph Smale began experiencing revival in Los Angeles, including signs and wonders that would ultimately find their most significant expression at the Azusa Street Mission under William J. Seymour, Graves at first blasted it as false and Smale as under delusion. Then, visiting the church, he was deeply moved, asked for Smale's forgiveness, and became a proponent. Bartleman visited there previous to the beginning of the Azusa Street Revival as well.
