Very scarce first edition, second printing of Passmore and Alabaster’s most ambitiously bound work by Spurgeon. The second printing [noted as second edition on the title, but corresponding to our use of “printing”] is distinguished from the first by its use of a slightly lighter blue cloth as here.

This is probably the crispest copy we have ever handled. Small smudge stain at lower edge of front board, probably cleanable. Very slightest rubbing at extremities. Similar stain at base of rear board, again perhaps cleanable. Floral endpapers in very good state, title a bit toned, textually very bright and crisp.
