Very rare title by Alexander Moody Stuart. Born in 1809, he was friends with the saintly Robert Murray M'Cheyne, the Bonar brothers, and served as a missionary to Holy Island, Northumberland in the 1830's.
Of his work on the Song of Solomon, Spurgeon said, ". . we do not know where to find a book of equal value in all respects. He has poetry in his soul, and, beyond that, a heart like that of Rutherford, fired with love to the Altogether Lovely One."

Original cloth, somewhat faded as shown. Lovely inscription and autograph on the blank title in the hand of Moody Stuart dating to the year of the book's first release. He passed into life in 1898.
