Very unusual "private" exposition of the Book of Revelation in which the authoress has had the "Holy Spirit reveal the mystery of the Revelation" to her and was personally moved by the Spirit to publish what she had received. Her claims to non-creedal exposition and a lack of system make her a fascinating case. In her attempts to read "blank," she provides us a nice suite of "givens" for reading the Apocalypse in late 19th century America.

Kittie Stanly [Stanley] Green [1850-1945, Ohio - North Carolina] was an active member at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church and sister to Ohio Senator, John P. Green. She does preference the revised version of the American Baptist Publication Society, but is clearly open to miraculous leadings, etc,. so we might place her somewhere in the Baptist revivalist, higher life circles influenced by the Keswick movement, etc.

She moves effortlessly [and illogically] from dispensational and premillennial readings to contemporizing and spiritualizing readings in the mode of Pesher. For instance, the martyrs slain in the streets are equated with the ongoing lynching of negroes without a fair trial, etc.

Original blue cloth with gold titling a bit tender at prelims and bumped, but else a good clean copy. We trace no examples auction or in the trade, nor have we handled another copy.
