1901 JOHN BUNYAN. Pilgrim's Progress. Limited Edition 100 Copies Signed by Artist in Fine Arts & Crafts Bindings
A truly exemplary copy of Pilgrim's Progress executed with the highest attending to detail.
Beginning with the half leather bindings in a fine blue calf, raised bands, and discreet Arts & Crafts design, these beautifully crafted bindings are then bookended by stylistically appropriate Arts & Crafts end-sheets monogramed A.G.J. [A. Garth Jones] There is then a limitation page prior to the title, reading, "Of this edition on "O.W." paper only 100 copies have been printed, of which this is No. 7." It is then boldly autographed by the artist, Edwin J. Sullivan.
The work itself is introduced by a sepia tone illustration by Sullivan of Pilgrim at the foot of Christ. The title is printed neatly in red and black on the highest quality laid paper. Text is beautifully composed and complimented by 20 illustrations by Sullivan, including an additional sepia print with tissue guard at the front of volume 2.
No other examples on the market.

Very good condition; leather and cloth very good with slightest fade to spine, top edge gilt in gold, very slight rubbing to bottom edge. Text exceptionally crisp and clean with only very minor handling at rears. A lovely set.
