1905 JOHN BUNYAN. Pilgrim's Progress & Grace Abounding. Stunning Limited Editions in Vellum.
An absolutely superbly preserved and scarce imprint of Bunyan's two most influential works. These were issued in 1903 and 1905 respectively in limited editions of just 150 copies each, numbered on the limitation page. They were bound in custom full vellum bindings in near folio size, and are each embellished with exceptional quality bromide photographs of illustrations by Harold Copping.
This is the only such individual volume, let alone pairing, of this important edition of Bunyan I have ever handled.
Bunyan, John. The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which is to Come Delivered Under the Similitude of a Dream by John Bunyan. With Thirty-One Permanent Bromide Photographs from Original Drawings by Harold Copping. London. The Religious Tract Society. 1903. 319pp.
Bunyan, John. Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners in a Faithful Account of the Life and Death of John Bunyan. Or, a Brief Relation of the Exceeding Mercy of God in Christ to Him Namely, in His Taking of him Out of the Dunghill, and Converting Him to the Faith of His Blessed Son Jesus Christ. Here is Also Particularly Shewed, What Sight of, and What Troubles He had for Sin; and Also, What Various Temptations He Hath Met with, and How God Hath Carried Him Through Them. Thoroughly Revised by the Eighth Edition with Fifteen Bromide Photographs from Original Illustrations by Harold Copping. London. The Religious Tract Society. 1905. 249pp.
A very good set, bound in vellum with minor discoloration / yellowing to the vellum of Pilgrim's Progress. Both copies are very solid, with generally bright pages and light foxing.
