Here is a wonderful little treasure. Amy Carmichael ephemera just seems especially challenging to find. In buying her works quite aggressively for over 25 years, I believe we have handled perhaps three pieces of manuscript or autograph material.
The present, is a bit extra special in that she writes presenting a first edition of Kohila [present] to her friend, and President of the Keswick Convention, Herbert F. Stevenson.
The laid in autograph note, on her letterhead from Tinnevelly, reads simply, "From comrade to comrade. With grateful thanks for a very understanding letter. May 23, 1939"
Laid on to the blank ffep in:
Carmichael, Amy. Kohila. The Shaping of an Indian Nurse. SPCK. 1939. First Edition.
Includes dustjacket, which has been clipped and is a bit dulled. Cloth good +. The whole very solid and clean.
