I'm sure others will disagree, but this is, to our mind, the best production of C. S. Lewis. In these three science fiction allegories he works out his perennial exploration of the question of Platonism [Out of the Silent Planet is a direct riff on Plato's Cave], the presence of God in the fallen world, the problem of evil and suffering, and the accessibility of the divine through materiality. Plus, they're just great, enjoyable, witty reads.

Now increasingly scarce in the original hardcover editions.

Lewis, C. S. Out of the Silent Planet. London. Bodley Head. 1971. Eleventh Impression.

Good condition with small stain at head of dustjacket on spine not extending to cloth, slightly faded on cloth at head of binding; binding slightly rounded and cocked. Blank ffep laid to pastedown and attractive bookplate to reverse of title. Small stain on pp. 8 and 29-32. Dust is price clipped and has light chipping that has been neatly repaired.

Lewis, C. S. Perelandra. London. Bodley Head. 1977. Eleventh Impression.

Very good condition with slightest fading to dustjacket, price clipped on dustjacket. Otherwise exceptionally crisp and clean.

Lewis, C. S. That Hideous Strength. London. Bodley Head. 1976. Seventh Impression.

Very good condition with slightest fading so spine, shadowing from dustjacket onto cloth spine. Otherwise very good, crisp and clean.

A very nice vintage set at an affordable price. I can't tell you how many times I have read these three volumes through; perhaps my favorite works of fiction [for whatever that's worth].
