A very nice example of a fine imprint of John Gill's classic exposition. Exceptional quality binding that will last for generations.

John Gill [1697-1771] was Spurgeon's pastoral predecessor at the New Park Street Chapel, later to become the Metropolitan Tabernacle. And Spurgeon highly praised his predecessor's scholarly work, saying:

"For good, sound, massive, sober sense in commenting, who can excel Gill?".

And Spurgeon included Gill's works in his influential book Commenting and Commentaries as an essential resource for pastors and Bible students, highlighting Gill's scholarly use of Hebrew and Jewish literature, one of the first to take Jewish backgrounds as seriously as the Graeco-Roman.

Gill, John. Gill's Commentary. John Gill. Volume I-VI. Genesis to Revelation. Grand Rapids, Michigan. Baker Book House. 1980. 919pp. + 954pp. + 1050pp. + 903pp. + 1020pp. + 1085pp.

A very good set with some very minor bumps and rubs to boards; text bright, solid, and clean. No textual marks. Blind personal library stamps on prelims.
