A very attractively preserved soldier-used example of the Soldiers Hymn Book, issued here by the Y.M.C.A., who were working jointly with the Christian Commission of the United States Army. This the copy of George Ayres, likely mustered from Boone County, Illinois. Perhaps sent to his wife or daughter to bolster her faith or presented upon his safe return home.
