An absolutely charming little 24pp travelogue penned by a member of the Brown family, traveling with George Huose via the Hudson River from Rome, New York aboard the Steam Boat Constellation, and later returning to Rome aboard the Steam Boat Chief Justice Marshall. They encounter squalls, hail, visit a circus, take a sloop to Southold, harvest clams, visit Mattatuk and Aqueboge, visit Hiram Aldrich and members of the Corwin family, visit Quantuck Bay, etc. etc.
A charming little month-long Hudson River / Long Island associated item.
Signed in a different hand at the end, "Parmenas Brown," likely the daughter of the author
1827 Handwritten Journal from Oct. 25th-Nov. 22nd. 24pp.
A good copy, bound in wraps.
