1890 J. C. RYLE. Expository Thoughts on the Gospels. Seven Volumes Complete in Fine Bindings.
An exceptionally nice complete set of the seven-volume set, issued separately, of J. C. Ryle's classic series on the four Gospel accounts. In them, we have the combination of his personal exegetical work with a distillation of the history of interpretation via the Church Fathers, Reformers, and Puritans blended effortlessly into something usable for pastor, family, or personal experimental reading of the Scriptures. A true classic.
We prize these volumes. . . Mr. Ryle has evidently studied all previous writers upon the Gospels, and has given forth an individual utterance of considerable value. C.H. Spurgeon
Ryle, J. C. Expository Thoughts on the Gospels for Family and Private Use. Seven Volumes [Complete]. London. William Hunt & Co. c.1890's.
Very good. Early or original half morocco bindings with raised bands, some very light rubbing, but really an excellent example. To our recollection, the finest copy of Ryle's work we have ever offered.
