An exceptional partial sermon manuscript, with attached autograph and engraving, by Mary Fletcher [1739-1815].

She was an early convert to Methodism, married John Fletcher, whom Wesley called the holiest man he had ever known, and is credited with persuading John Wesley to formally recognize her "extraordinary call" to preach and was among, if not the first formally recognized preacher among the Methodists.

The document itself is also a meaningful one, in which she is apparently lecturing on the relationship of Methodists to the law, both in terms of enduring persecution and in relation to disobeying the government if it meant being unfaithful to the gospel.

A wonderful Methodist artifact.
